God, Keep Us Always

This is actually a song I wrote for my first daughter, Amy’s, wedding.

Our second daughter, Betsy  – who is a lovely singer having sung plays in Chicago for a couple of years, up in Montana and in Denver  –  was originally going to sing it,

but…. she came down with a very sore throat and that left Dad – me –  to sing it at the wedding…

..double-duty for me…..walking Amy down the aisle ….after singing her wedding song……she probably thought she was going to be the more nervous that day.  haha.

GOD, Keep Us Always

GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
always and blessed by your love.
GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
with blessings each day from above.

When roads become rocky and life seems to stir.
When visions are fuzzy and life’s all a blur.
We pray your love keeps us and guides us along
with beautiful flowers and birds in sweet song.

GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
always and blessed by your love.
GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
with blessings each day from above.

When dreams turn to wishes and heartaches do burn.
When roads become narrow, don’t know where to turn.
We pray your love keeps us and guides us along
With beautiful flowers and birds in sweet song.

GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
always and blessed by your love.
GOD
we pray that your love keeps us always,
always…..in love.

  1. Betsy and Amy are lucky daughters, indeed! Beautiful lyrics. If you have a recording of it, you should post it. I would love to hear it.

Tom, how absolutely beautiful! Your daughter must have been so proud to know her dad wrote that lovely song and sang it for her wedding. I would love to hear it as well …… just lovely. ~ Julie

again, my other daughter was going to sing it and we practiced but then her throat got real sore and I ended up singing it…it all worked out….I wish we could have had a recording at the church with the pipe organ….but we didn’t. Thanks for the ‘like’, Julie
