Fall’s Call

Happy Saturday!

Fall’s Call

It is the time of year
when fall is in the air
and hunters hide down in their blinds;
it’s best the geese beware.

Fields of pumpkin look plump and ripe.
Cornfields soon will be picked.
Children are planning their Halloween suits
for weather that’s hard to predict.

Squirrels are scurrying to fill their reserves.
The rabbits don’t seem that concerned.
And for the birds, as usual, it’s hard to tell;
many have left and, yet…. returned.

To the house there’s things that must be done
to ready for winter’s call;
screens come down and plastic goes up
and oh…. how we love it all!
